Sant Pasqual is the recreation area and hermitage to the east of the municipality of Ibi, with a camping area the town hall manages. Since 2011 it has been part of the Paratge Natural Municipal Sant Pasqual-Torretes, 69.3 hectares of protected countryside. On the Saturday after 17 May the romería goes up to the hermitage, and on any sunny weekend there are families, picnics and walkers.
And cars. With picnic bags, coats and, now and then, the keys locked inside.
Check before you ring
- Every door and the boot. Central locking does not always catch all of them.
- A second key. Is there one at home, and somebody who could bring it?
- Your roadside assistance. Many car insurance policies include help with a lockout.
- The keys themselves. Are they really inside, or in a bag on a picnic table?
Do not try a wire
A coat hanger through the window seal looks easy in films. In practice it tears the rubber, scratches the glass and can unhook the rods inside the door. Breaking a window is worse, and expensive. If there is no danger, wait for somebody with the right tools.
If a child or an animal is inside
On a warm day a closed car heats up quickly. Ring 112 first, then a locksmith. There is a short guide on what to do in the first minutes.
Saying where you are
“Sant Pasqual” is a whole area, not an address. Say which part: near the hermitage, by the camping area, at a picnic spot, on the road up. Then send a live location on WhatsApp: it is the quickest way to be found. For the rest of the municipality, and Castalla, Onil and Tibi, see how to describe an address in the area.
When the van reaches Sant Pasqual
The car is looked at first and the price is agreed with you before anything is done. Then the door is opened without forcing the window or the frame. You show that the car is yours, with the papers or a rental agreement. That is the whole of the car service: opening the door, nothing more.
