Burglary repair in Ibi: lockable today, harder to force after
A forced door, a snapped cylinder, a frame split at the strike plate. The first visit makes the home close and lock again. The second, when you have had time to think, makes it harder to force next time.

Before anything
Before you touch the door
- If anybody might still be inside, stay out and ring 112.
- Photograph the door, the frame, the lock and anything broken, close up and from a step back.
- Make the police report (the denuncia). Insurers usually ask for its number.
- Then ring: the door can be made secure the same day.
Tonight
A door that closes and locks again
The first job is simple: the home has to be lockable before you sleep or leave. A snapped or drilled cylinder is replaced; a lock forced out of line is reset or replaced; a strike plate torn from the frame is refixed or reinforced so the bolt has something to hold.
If the door itself is split beyond a locksmith’s repair, it is made secure for now and you are told so plainly, so you can call a carpenter or a door fitter for the rest.

High-security locks and what actually makes a difference
- A high-security cylinder built against bumping, picking, drilling and snapping, fitted flush with the door.
- A guard plate over the cylinder, so there is nothing to grip or snap from outside.
- A reinforced strike fixed deep into the frame, because a strong lock is only as good as what its bolt goes into.
- A second lock on a door that has only one, or a security upgrade of the existing lock on an armoured door.
For a flat that simply needs a new cylinder after buying or renting, see ordinary lock changes. A safe bolted into a solid wall is often the next step: safes opened and fitted.

Flats, chalets and units are forced differently
Flats in the blocks of the 1960s and 70s: the attack is usually on the flat door’s cylinder, inside a shared stairwell. Many of these flats have changed hands, and a resale flat’s first lock check covers what a buyer should look at.
Chalets and farmhouses in the partides, from els Plans to la Devesa, are further from neighbours, with a gate, a front door and often outbuildings. Each needs its own lock looked at.
Units on the six industrial estates are covered by the camera network the town hall installed in 2017, but the staff door and the office are still the weak points. Locks for units and shops, and the first-day round of a new unit.
If you are still outside a forced door that will not open, ring the emergency line. Photos can go by WhatsApp, written quotes by email: contact.
Questions
Questions from a forced doorway
Should I report it before you repair the door?
Yes, if you can. Photograph the door, the frame and the lock first, and make the police report (the denuncia): insurers usually ask for it. If the door cannot be left open, it is made secure and the damaged parts are kept for you.
Does the home insurance cover the new cylinder?
That depends on your policy, not on us. You get an itemised invoice with the damage described, in English or Spanish, to send to the insurer.
Somebody tried the lock but did not get in. Is it still worth changing?
Usually. Marks round the cylinder, a key that suddenly feels rough, or a cylinder that turns loosely can all mean it was attacked and weakened. It is looked at and you are told honestly whether it needs replacing.
What is the single most useful upgrade?
For most doors, a high-security cylinder that sits flush, behind a guard plate. A strong lock with a weak, protruding cylinder is still the easy way in.
