First
Before you ring, check these
- Every door and the boot: one is sometimes left unlocked.
- A second key at home, with somebody who can bring it.
- Your roadside assistance: many insurance policies include a lockout.
- If a child or an animal is inside on a warm day, ring 112 first. What to do in the first minutes.
Do not try a wire through the window seal: it tears the seal and can damage the door mechanism. If it is the house you are shut out of, not the car, that is the emergency line, and this is how house doors are opened.

None of the following is ever done
- No key cutting, copying or duplication, for any lock
- No extra or replacement keys of any kind: house, gate, garage, unit, mailbox or padlock
- No car keys: not cut, not supplied, not replaced, not programmed
- No transponder chips and no vehicle remote controls
- No ignition barrels or ignition switches
- No keys for motorbikes, scooters or vans

Asked beside a locked car
Could the alarm go off, or the door get marked, while it is opened?
The door is opened with tools made for car locks and seals, without forcing the window or bending the frame. Some alarms sound when the door opens; they stop once the car is unlocked with its own key from inside.
The keys are in the boot and the doors are locked. Can you reach them?
Usually, yes. Once a door is open, most cars let you release the boot from inside or from the key itself.
I have lost the car key. Can you make me a new one?
No. Car keys are not cut, supplied, replaced or programmed here, nor remotes or chips. Ring your car’s dealer or your roadside assistance; a locksmith can only open the door.
What do I need to show you?
That the car is yours to open: the registration papers or your ID matched against them once the door is open, or a rental agreement for a hire car.
